'Songs and Dances from Roof of the World'
Tibetan Artistes at Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts will present
'Songs and Dances from Roof of the World' on the evening of Sept 7, 2010.
The songs and dances of Tibet vary in style from region to region. In the Lhasa region,
for example, a quick-stepping rhythmic style is preferred. However, in the Kham region of
eastern Tibet more elaborate movements are practised. TIPA dance troupes perform dance
programs incorporating all styles. Artistes will play traditional Tibetan
instruments such as the dranyen, flute and piwang.
